Sat, 26 April 2008 ![]() Reserves Nap Nomads Denbigh Town Reserves bounced back from their 6-0 trouncing at the hands of Trefnant to record a well deserved 5-2 win over Rhyl Nomads , reports Peter Glynn at Central Park. Boasting four first team players , Denbigh were head and shoulders above a weakened Nomad outfit who began proceedings with nine players. And it only took three minutes before Sheridan's eleven took a lead , a firm planted header by Kevin Evans from a Luke O'Mahoney corner. but if Town thought it was all plain sailing they were in for a shock as on 16 minutes , after a spell of home pressure , the Nomads broke swiftly and Josh Bucknall skipped past the last defender and poked home past a stranded Chris Brown in the Denbigh net. It threatened to get a little tasty as first Lundstram saw yellow for off the ball activity , and then gloveman Brown needed first aid to a cut , but Denbigh settled back into a pattern and retook the lead in spectacular fashion. O'Mahoney and Dave Jones combined to test Nomad stopper Jason Ashbrooke and when the ball fell to Ben Stanway , the little right back curled a pure peach into the top right hand corner to record one of the goals of the season. Matt Toole had another effort saved by the impressive Ashbrooke and the same man did brilliantly to deny O'Mahoney and then Tom Sheridan saw his low drive bounce off a defender as Nomads defended in desperation. The second stanza matched the first , with Town doing all the pressing but with Nomads looking useful on the break. Toole basically settle the game as a contest on 50 minutes , when looking a yard offside slid home into and empty net after a quicksilver run by Lundstram. And then just after the hour , Lundstram helped himself to a goal after a glorious cross field ball from O'Mahoney presented him with acres of space. It was now how many would Denbigh score and they duly went nap on 80 minutes , again a superb ball , this time from the excellent Jamie Clayton who landed one at the feet of Gaz John Williams and the little winger slammed home in glee. But moments later Nomads recorded a consolation , with Dean Moss capitalising on a mistake , rounding the spreading Brown and stroking home. Good game.
