Sophie's Trophies

Denbigh Diamonds U/13 girls football team captain, Sophie Roberts,
had plenty of reasons to celebrate after winning an armful of trophies
including the Supporters Player, Players Player and the Manager's Player of the Season Awards.  The proud captain of the only girls football
team to represent Denbigh Town received her rewards at the annual end
of season junior presentation night at the Plas Pigot club.  Sophie has
also been selected to represent the North East Wales League.  They will
play several fixtures including games against The Wirral, Everton,
Chester, Wrexham and others.  Denbigh Diamonds manager, Martin Jones, presented the trophies which also included Top Scorer - Paige Morris and Most Improved Player - Anona Davies-Smith.  The Diamonds will be playing in their new Inter Milan kit next season which was very kindly sponsored by Denbigh Town Council.  Any girls aged between 12 and 15 interested in playing football please contact Martin Jones on 01745812810, or Rod Roberts on 01745816620.

Denbigh Town FC Juniors Fun Day took place on Saturday 16th June.
There were a number of attractions to keep young and old occupied , such as army inflatable assault course, weapons display, command tasks, bouncy castle, soccerama, face painting, drinks and refreshments, BBQ and a soccer skills course.
TinyPic image
Special thanks to Wes Farley , who is a serving member of the British Army and who organized the attendance of members of his Regiment on the day.  It is thanks to his hard work and the enthusiasm of his men that the day was such a success with the inflatable assault course proving a BIG hit  with the children who came along.  The club would also like to thank Bodidris Beef and Henllan bread for their support and Townsend Supplies and ATS Tyres for allowing us to use their fences to put the signs back  up, advertising the whole event. Also a huge thank you to the managers and parents who helped me out on the day and helped make it a day to remember.
TinyPic image

Despite some obstacles in our way, not least of which was the initial removal of the the publicity signs by the County Council and the none too summery weather, everyone that  came along seemed to have a good time.  The aim of the day was to give the children of Denbigh a good old fashioned fun day out and to raise
the profile of the club.  Whilst there is no question that the fun day out was achieved, we still need to reiterate the point that the future success and growth of the club is dependant on more adult volunteers
coming forward.  The Secretary was approached by a number of parents on the day, enquiring about their children joining a Denbigh youth team and we have no shortage of young  players. However, we have no parents/adults to act as managers and are therefore unable to create any more teams.  We are desperate for a manager for our existing U13 yrs team and if we are unsuccessful in finding someone by the end of July, this team will fold and the players move to teams out of the town, which would be a terrible disappointment to us all.  We are also in need of an assistant manager to help with our U15yr team as the existing manager is unable to committ every weekend due to work commitments.

Anyone out there who feels they could lend their support in any way would be most welcomed and can contact  Sarah Blake on 01745 812802.  Full support and training will be provided and paid for by the
club and no experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm!!  It is a committment each week to run the teams, but the rewards of the childrens enthusiasm and enjoyment makes it more than worthwhile.
